If you want whiter teeth then you’re in luck, today it is so easy to get whiter teeth and not pay a fortune for the privilege. A fairly new method is doing the rounds of salons and peoples homes; it is a method that uses a whitening gel and an intense light source. It only works on patients that have little or no gum damage, and takes just an hour to do. The method consists of you sitting in a chair or laying on a table, then the gel is applied to the teeth, a rubber shield protects the gums and lips from damage by the light source. Then a light is shone on the gel to interact with it and make the teeth whiter by bleaching them. This is done over an hour at fifteen minute periods, from two to three sessions. Afterwards you need to take painkillers as the teeth become quite sensitive to the air, liquids and solids. The effects last for some time, but a top up, as such, is easy to apply. You will need to avoid things that will undo the work, things like smoking, drinking red wine and other coloured liquids and foods. If that sounds too complex to you, then maybe you would like to try a home kit, this is such a simple and easy method that, as suggested by the name, it can be applied at home. The kits are available in all chemists and on the net, so for as little as £50 you can do your own teeth. You won’t end up with a Hollywood smile, but it will at the least improve the whiteness of your discoloured teeth. You get all you need in the kit, and that consists of a gum-shield and a bleaching agent mix. You need to soften the shield in a bowl of hot water, then make a mould by biting up and down to make a tooth mould specific to your teeth line. Mix up the agent and place some of it into the bottom and the top of the mould and then place it back onto your teeth. Leave it on for the recommended time and then wash your mouth out to neutralise it. You also need to avoid the pre-mentioned items in your diet to make the effect last the longest. This can be repeated again after a certain time, see the instructions for more details on individual packs.
